Biological Efficiency
Plants contain light absorbing pigments. Healthy plant growth is regulated by many pigments including chlorophylls, carotenoids, and flavonoids. Each pigment has one or more absorption peaks, or wavelengths of light that are most efficiently converted into chemical energy. Most “broad spectrum” grow lights waste energy generating wavelengths that are not optimal. To make matters worse, most “full spectrum” grow lights are lacking key wavelengths that are needed to drive the complete array of plant growth processes.
